Oriel College Provosts Lodgings

Alterations to the Provost's Lodgings at Oriel College, dating from the 1640s, removed c.1815 work to restore the double aspect of the original rooms, created a new doorway, reinstated an original window to the second quad, incorporating a miniature and label moulded stone carved cat door. An original bressummer was strengthened with stainless steel tension rods, connected to new backets at either end of the span, so as to ensure that the upper room could be used for a gathering of 40 people.
