Manor Farm Frindsbury
Manor farm is a medieval farm landscape northwest of Rochester, owned by the Church Commissioners. Farming stopped a few years ago and the buildings became a target for vandals.
Manor Farm barn was built in 1403; it is the longest extant single phase oak frame barn in the UK.
The majority of the fabric is original including the oak weatherboarding to the external walls.
The barn was seriously damaged by fire in 2004 / 2005 and the Commissioners have undertaken to rebuild and repair the barn, together with the associated Victorian cowsheds and stables, to add new buildings with facilities for visitors, and to donate the complex to the Kent Wildlife Trust as a wildlife and heritage centre.
Grade I listed.
